“Let me be clear.”

I will not let you go out to play when your room is so dirty, I will not tolerate you talking back to me, young man, …. oops, no, it’s not Daddy, but our Commander-in-Chief and his most-repeated phrase according to a study by the Associated Press. In one of our great institutions of higher learning, the community college, I’ve wandered past classrooms where the professoriate has lectured on the eloquence of our Dear Leader to young scholars expressing themselves sartorially with visages of The One flashing a brilliant smiling or scowling with purpose as he tilts chin up to the heavens. The vacuity of the speeches matches many an essay by a freshman who in the pre-dawn hours peppers an airy paper with “now is the time” and “together we can,” “make a difference,” etc. etc.
